Who is this Apprenticeship for?

This Apprenticeship is ideal for employees that support and promote children and young people’s early education and development.

An EYP typically works as part of a professional team ensuring the welfare and care of children under the guidance and supervision of an Early Years Educator, teacher, or another suitably qualified professional in the Early Years Workforce.

Typical roles

Nursery Assistant, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Nurse, Assistant Childminder, Nanny and Early Years Worker.

Eligibility

• Be aged 16 years or older.

• Have been resident in the UK/EU for at least three years prior to commencing their apprenticeship.

• Be employed in England and have a Contract of Employment.

• Not currently enrolled in any other apprenticeship or another DfE-funded FE/HE programme.

• Learners should be aged 16 or over to undertake the qualification.

Certification

Successful candidates will receive a Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (QCF) from an awarding body within England and Wales who are currently recognised by Ofqual and the Department for Education and Skills.

Course Contents

This Apprenticeship has been designed to build on employees’ existing talents and provide further knowledge and partnership working skills to support young people, their parents/carers, and your wider organisation.

They will learn how to plan and implement inclusive play, promote speech, language, and communication development, and ensure that everything they do is in line with safeguarding and equality policies and procedures. They will also learn how to use reflective practice to get the most from their own continuous professional development.

They will acquire all the skills and knowledge to proactively promote children’s health, safety, and well-being and inspire others to deliver the best and most personalised service to every individual you support.

The apprenticeship is made up of the following components:

• Level 2 Diploma For The Early Years Practitioner (QCF).

• Functional Skills English And Maths (Level 1) Level 2 Attempted.

• Functional Skills English And Maths (Level 1) Level 2 Attempted.

Duration

The course is typically 12 Months.

A personal tutor will visit the workplace and deliver high-quality face-to-face learning and coaching and provide all the resources the employee will need to progress quickly. Our intuitive learner management system will really bring the subject to life through interactive learning tools, access to complementary online resources and relevant social communities, as well as provide real-time learner information so that you will always know what your employee is learning and how they are progressing.

End Point Assessment

Apprentices access End Point Assessment following a gateway discussion with their employer and trainer where entry requirements are discussed, checked, and recorded including functional skills at the required level. The End Point Assessment will include the following types of assessment:

• Situational Judgement test.

• Professional Discussion.

• Self-Assessment.

• Collate testimonies from people who use services.
